The Desolation is a cross-platform Looter-Shooter with a focus on teamplay and build customization. Players take the role of interplanetary mercenaries in an epic struggle against the mysterious Shade invaders. Engage in a broad spectrum of treacherous missions, collect resources and craft powerful gear with near endless potential for maximizing your efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Game Design

  • Helping to set up a complex F2P economy by calibrating sources and sinks to incentivize both playing and paying for progression

  • Fine-tuning core gameplay design features like projectiles and cover mechanics

  • Balancing a variety of combat values to create a fast-paced gameplay experience

  • Designing new enemy types and bosses with interesting behaviors and abilities to create more combat variety and exciting challenges

Level Design

  • Creating hand-crafted multiplayer missions with special gameplay objectives, challenges and story elements

  • Coordinating level production from sketches and blockouts to fully fletched environments with the art department

  • Polishing combat encounters and difficulty levels iteratively via playertesting

  • Producing procedural mission content like randomized level chunks and encounters

Technical Design

  • Taking over the technical design direction of reworking the level editor and scripting tools for more efficient mission creation

  • Participating in the conception and development of a nested chunk-based approach to procedural mission generation
